Earl was initially hired by David Bowie to replace the iconic Mick Ronson on his Diamond Dogs tour in 1974 and stayed on with Bowie, recording lead guitar on his seminal Young Americans and Station To Station albums. Slick reappeared on Bowie tours over the years and contributed to his Heathen, Reality and The Next Day albums.   Slick also famously played guitar on John Lennon's final two studio albums, Double Fantasy and Milk & Honey before joining the New York Dolls in 2011.  Earl Slick is indeed  Rock n Roll royalty

This summer, revered rock institution Titus Andronicus have stoked fans’ excitement for their forthcoming seventh studio album The Will To Live with a string of singles that have run the gamut from concise and hard-hitting (“(I’m) Screwed,” “Give Me Grief”) to burly seven-minute epics (“An Anomaly”), leaving listeners breathlessly curious about what could possibly follow. 
Today, those questions are answered with the album’s final pre-release single, the rollicking, rapid-fire 'Baby Crazy', which Vulture described as “an ethics lesson wrapped in a tuneful punk jam." With a barrage of pounding piano chords, ribbons of saxophone and a heart-racing rhythm, the album’s ambitions to achieve “Ultimate Rock” are laid bare in just over four minutes. The track is accompanied by yet another unforgettable official music video, which finds frontman Patrick Stickles simply belting the densely-worded track as the lyrics scroll by. "As inscrutable as some of my artistic choices may sometimes appear, I do wish to be understood, as communication is the purpose of all art,” Stickles says. “This led me to approach this song as something of a user's guide for the album, wherein I explicate as clearly as I can the meaning behind the recurring symbology I utilise throughout -- the mother, the father, the baby, etc. It is my hope that this will lead the listener to a richer listening experience... or they can just tap their foot to it, whatever works." Stickles will further explain the story behind The Will To Live in a Reddit AMA on r/indieheads this Friday at 6pm BST.

 More about The Will to Live:With The Will to Live, Titus Andronicus invite listeners on a journey from fear to faith, from anger to acceptance, from grief to gratitude, all chasing the mythical ideal of Ultimate Rock. Drawing on maximalist rock epics from Who’s Next to Hysteria, the band have crafted their richest, densest, and hardest-hitting album to date, matching the sprawl and scope of their most celebrated work while also streamlining their ambitious attack to greater effect than ever before. “It may strike some as ironic we had to go to Canada to record our equivalent to Born In The USA,” says Stickles, “but the pursuit of Ultimate Rock knows no borders.” Titus Andronicus made their long-awaited return to the stage in November of 2021 to celebrate the anniversary of their landmark second album, 2010’s The Monitor. The act of playing that material before an ecstatic audience left Stickles determined to deliver an album that would reach for those same lofty heights, this time relying less on the reckless fire of youth, but more on the experience and perspective at which a band only arrives with a thousand shows under their belt. To reach this level of focus and clarity, Stickles had to stand on the nexus of triumph and tragedy. Gordon on bass, and Chris Wilson on drums, all of whom featured on 2018’s A Productive Cough and 2019’s An Obelisk. On the crueler side of the coin, The Will to Live was created in large part as an attempt to process the untimely 2021 death of Matt “Money” Miller, the band’s founding keyboardist and Stickles’ closest cousin. The result proves a milestone for Titus Andronicus, an ambitious, forward-facing work which stands tall on the nexus of triumph and tragedy, fuelled by newfound focus and clarity, showcasing a uniquely gifted rock ‘n’ roll band at the very peak of their creative powers. “Certain recent challenges, some unique to myself and some we have all shared, but particularly the passing of my dearest friend, have forced me to recognise not only the precious and fragile nature of life, but also the interconnectivity of all life,” Stickles says. “Loved ones we have lost are really not lost at all, as they, and we still living, are all component pieces of a far larger continuous organism, which both precedes and succeeds our illusory individual selves, united through time by (you guessed it) the will to live. Recognition of this self-evident truth demands that we extend the same empathy and compassion we would wish for ourselves outward to every living creature, even to those we would label our enemies, for we are all cells in the same body, sprung from a common womb, devoted to the common cause of survival. “Naturally, though, our long-suffering narrator can only arrive at this conclusion through a painful and arduous odyssey through Hell itself – this is a Titus Andronicus record, after all.”

This is no lazy pastiche, no dressing up box. They live and breathe this music and want you to get immersed with them.
 
The Tea Pad are ten years into a remarkable story that began with four friends studying at Newcastle University and now sees them playing venues and festivals across the UK and mainland Europe. Based in Newcastle Upon Tyne but with members hailing from Orkney to Warwickshire, the Tea Pad sound draws on myriad influences – from Hank Williams to Django Reinhardt, Tom Waits to The Beatles – yet ultimately sounds like nobody else, that North Eastern Swing style that’s utterly their own and changing all the time.
 
Across their four studio albums – 2012’s “Money Isn’t Everything”, 2014’s “Talk About The Weather”, 2016’s “Something Blue” and 2019’s “Soul Of My City” – the band have constantly added new flavours to their sound: Heron in particular is a vinyl obsessive, always fired up about some new passion – calypso or boogaloo or whatever this week brings – and that eclecticism feeds into their songs, with the newest releases adding twangy 60s guitar tones and modernist R&B styles.
 
The band tour the way bands should – widely and endlessly – winning friends and fans at each new show with notable performances at festivals like Glastonbury, Bestival, Wilderness and Cambridge Folk Festival. They’ve appeared three times on Radio 4’s Loose Ends, and had their music played by everyone from Marc Riley to Huey Morgan.
 
October 2022 will see the band release their fifth studio album, “The Party’s Over”, which takes their signature blend of classic country and rhythm and blues to a new level. After a decade of honing their craft, this might be the best album to date!

Irish Music legends Sack will play The Grand Social, Dublin on Saturday, May 20th. Currently putting the finishing
touches to their first album of new material since 2001's 'Adventura Majestica', the band will take a break from
recording to play the legendary Dublin venue which will see the band debut a selection of songs from the new as
yet untitled album due for release later this year.
 
Returning with their first single in 20 years in 2021, ‘What A Way To Live’ received great critical acclaim which
resulted in a national radio hit which was followed by the 25th anniversary reissue of their classic album ‘Butterfly
Effect’ and sold out shows and festival appearances including slots at Electric Picnic, All Together Now, and most
recently the Shiiine On Festival in Minehead, UK. Tickets for the show are on sale now.
 
Formed from the ashes of Lord John White the band came to notice with their strong melodic songs, biting political
lyrics and new wave, guitar driven sensibilities. Their first single ‘What Did the Christians Ever Do For Us?’ was
single of the week in both the NME and Melody Maker. In 1993 they signed to UK Indie label Lemon Records, who
released their first album ‘You Are What You Eat’.
 
Followed up with 1994's' ‘Butterfly Effect'’ which was produced by Stereolab producer Paul Tipler and Garret
'Jacknife' Lee. The album – released on the Irish label Dirt Records which contained one of their most memorable
tracks, “Laughter Lines”, a song Morrissey said, “should be Number One forever” and At Morrissey’s behest Sack
opened for him on his 1999 Oye Esteban World Tour taking in mainland Europe, the UK & Ireland, and the USA. 
 
The former Smiths singer also included “Colorado Springs” (from ‘You Are What You Eat’) on his hand-picked NME CD "Songs to Save Your Life" before inviting the band to open for him again on a European tour
2001 saw ‘Adventura Majestica’ come out on the band's own Jetset Junta label and saw the band incorporate new
sonics into their sound, culminating in a title track that received a white label remix by Irish techno icons Decal.
 
Pre-pandemic, Sack played the Jerry Fish stage at Electric Picnic, the Night for Aware gig in Dublin’s Olympia
Theatre and opened for High Llamas/Microdisney legend Sean O’Hagan at The Grand Social. 2021 saw the band
return with a brand-new single “What A Way To Live” and record deal with new indie label Dimple Discs (home to
Cathal Coughlan, Eileen Gogan, Damian O’Neill and the Monotones and others). 
 
The single received massive nationwide airplay in Ireland as well as many great accolades across the board including Newstalk’s Tom Dunne declaring it his ‘single of the year’. May 2022, seen Sack release the 25th Anniversary edition of their classic album ‘Butterfly Effect’ on vinyl for the first time ever through Dimple Discs records to renewed acclaim for the album from fans and media alike, with The Charlatans Tim Burgess hosting one of his hugely popular Twitter listening parties for the newly reissued album. Sack are currently working on an album of new material set for release in 2023.
